However, Automata tells us that aliens have invaded Earth, and because of this, the humans have been forced to take refuge on the moon. At the end of NieR, it was unclear whether Project Gestalt was a success or not, especially when you take that game’s multiple endings into consideration. Is there no difference had the creators made Yorha from "normal" android AI vs machine AI? Ok since Yorha black boxes are said to be made from machine cores and they are basically the same as machines I wonder what the effect of that was? I mean the creators of Yorha intended them to be made from machine AI because they felt it was more "humane" to have a dumbed down AI that couldn't feel as much suffering as a regular android AI but in the game and story the Yorha AI show as much intelligence and self-awareness as the other androids. What happens to both groups is terrible, and the process by which you are made doesn't intrinsically make you less human. They're made out of the enemy.Īs we all know, there's really no difference between YoRHa androids and Resistance androids, just as there's really no difference between cloned humans and real humans in fiction. Why not make aspects of them out of machine parts? That would be far more humane than killing "real" androids. It'd be screwed up to create androids simply to die. Killing them is "more humane" than killing a real living human. However, creating clones meant only for this purpose (supposedly) sidesteps this issue. You could easily harvest existing people for their parts, but that's screwed up from most people's point of view. My closest analogy would be those movies where clones are harvested for their parts, like in The Island. They're not really "the same" as machines, just made out of some of the same parts. They weren't meant to be less intelligent, emotional, or aware, since the data about their combat abilities or emotional resilience was meant to be used in the next generation. YoRHa androids are meant to be the prototypes for the next stage of android production.
